What Are The Effects Of Tuberculosis For Cattle?

Supplying human health and sustainable food security is impossible when animal health is not under guarentee. Because, animal nutrition and zoonotic diseases compose most of the microorganisms which threat human health. Tuberculosis is especially one of the diseases which threats food security in respect of animal nutrition. 

- Cattle Tuberculosis, Is A Cronic and Communicable Disease

Cattle tuberculosis, is a zoonotic disease which can also be seen in humans. It is such a cronic and communicable disease that is determined by formation of tubercule especially in lungs, other organs and tissues in the caseose character. The factors of tuberculosis cause diseases by expanding to body via respiration and digestion. Poor conditions of shelters, hygenic environment, unsuitableness of caring and nutrition, inadequacy of fresh air and exercise, uncontrolled animal penetration from abroad, and feeding calfwith infected animal feed are the main factors to be mentioned which facilitate diseases to infect and spread to animals. Besides, human tuberculosis is going to be seen when infected meat and milk are consumed.

The consumption of tubercular meat threats human health; it is impossible unhealthy meat to take part in the food chain in slaughter houses. In order to protect ourselves from tuberculosis, animal meat shouldn’ t be consumed without veterinary control. Moreover, raw or rare red meat shouldn’ t be consumed. From this point of view, heat- processed milk and dairy products should be preferred.

- There Are Various Methods To Struggle With This Disease

  • Herds should importantly be observed and controlled in order to avoid unhealthy animal penetration from abroad. The healthiest way is initially the veterinary examination.
  • The age criteria has to be considered for their healthy development; the seperation of their shelters and grazing management should be made properly. 
  • Calf should be fed with healthy animal milk. 
  • The zookeepers must be healthy and their health control should be made on a regular basis. 
  • It mustn’ t let bird, chicken, goose and such animals in the shelters.
  • Shelters shouldn’ t be crowded. Regular cleaning and disinfection should be made inside. 
  • Air conditioning is another important method for struggling.
  • Caring and nutrition rules should be considered; it should be provided animals to feel themselves healthy enough. 
  • Sick animals should be gotten out of the shelters in order to avoid infection.
